- Abstract: This study reexamines revolutionary speakers’ taste for antiquity through analysis of their speeches. Following the Ciceronian model, political speakers become crucibles that collect and circulate a collective imaginary. In this way, Romanity becomes the material for the narrative of a nation’s origins.
