Métaphore et métaphysique chez Pascal

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work: Métaphore, savoirs et arts au début des temps modernes
  • Author: Bah Ostrowiecki (Hélène)
  • Abstract: In the writings of Pascal, metaphor is both an obstacle and an inevitable condition of the formulation of true discourse. This situation reflects the composite nature of the human, in which mind and body are inseparable. In the absence of any fixed reference point, the human creature is condemned to a process of transferral. Far removed from any metaphysical stability, its condition can, as a whole, be described as metaphorical.
