Abstract: Marguerite de Valois’s Mémoires have secured a place in memory with the portrait of an intelligent and intrepid woman who lived through the Saint Bartholomew’s Day Massacre and defied royal orders for many years. Also included are the Mémoire justificatif, the Discours docte et subtil on the Woman Question as well as her poems.
