Abstract: A significant number of Serao’s translations was published in Spain in the early twentieth century. This chapter focuses on the reactions to her translations in the Spanish press, drawing on the resources offered by the Virtual Newspaper Libraries of the Hemeroteca Digital and the Virtual Library of Spanish Newspapers, which include 800 references to Serao. At the beginning of Franco’s dictatorship references to Matilde Serao can no longer be found in the digitized Spanish press.
