Abstract: The Pharsalia is probably the Latin work that is the most in line with the Baroque period. This study analyzes the influence of Lucan’s epic poem in the years 1550–1660. Its metamorphoses of genre and striking language inspired writers from Agrippa d'Aubigné to Pierre Corneille.
