Abstract: Is contemporary theater a theater of revolution, resistance, or circumstance? In La Nuit de Santiago, Hocéïn Faraj re-examines the mechanisms of these two systems , revealing how the most violent political confrontations and the “dissensions idéologiques les plus déchirantes” (Poirson, 2007: 56) manifest themselves. Mixing entertainment and reflection in his writing, the playwright anticipates the sociopolitical struggles in today’s societies while urging resistance.
