Abstract: In Al-ḍifdaʿ Rūġ (“La grenouille Rūġ”), a collection published in 1989, reissued in 2000, and intended for children, Līnā Kīlānī addresses the problem of identity construction in the interplay between belonging to a collective identity and individual characteristics. The lesson to be learned from reading is the importance of self-esteem, self-worth and gratitude in accordance with the roots of identity.
