Abstract: This paper studies the representation of the female body in the novel Djazya et les Derviches by Abdelhamid Benhedouga. This character is the avatar of the well-known mythical figure Djazya of the Hilali epic. Due to her astounding beauty, the character is a source of harmony and of successive states of disorder that ensue in the village following her transgressive dance with the revolutionary student Lahmar.
