Abstract: Syrian theatre possesses a wealth of examples that illustrate engaged humor, especially in the works of Wannūs, ‘Adwān, al-Maġūṭ, and others. This contribution aims to analyze denunciatory humor in the plays Le chien de l’Agha and Un chien errant by Mamdūḥ ‘Adwān, who invites audiences to consider politico-social situations from his own unbearable perspective.
