Abstract: The novel Nawāfiḏ al-nawāfiḏ, by Ğamāl al-Ġīṭānī consists of a series of glimpses through different windows, a succession of moments that compose the entire life of the narrator. Waiting is presented in different forms in the narrative: as hope, desire, and even fear. These glimpses, these instants comprise moments of waiting that represent phases and steps towards a more profound quest: waiting for the final stage.
