Abstract: Hero-cum-narrators, one from L’École de la guerre and the other from La Main de Dieu, two children from enemy religions live in opposite sectors of Beirut in 1975: Alexandre Najjar, a Christian, lives on the east side and Lila, a Muslim, on the west side. They will have to cross the same line of demarcation, thus confronting their religion and geographical boundaries. According to a mythocritical approach, this article studies variation on three myths: the myth of identity, the myth of the crossing and the myth of return.
