Abstract: Based on the observation that the triptych of recollection, memory, and autobiographical writing is a major theme in literary studies, this article analyzes the narrative technique that serves as a model for Jabbar Hussin’s Adieu l’enfant and structures the universe of the young person, essentially in his relationship with discourse, starting from the postulate that writing is recollection and that Adieu l’enfant fits into two domains related to recollection and modeling identity: speech and memories.
