Abstract: This article returns L’Excès-L’usine, the first book published by Leslie Kaplan, to its historical and political context, seeking to assess which specifically literary detours the text takes in its inscription of the lived experience of alienation at work. A deconstructed and reconstructed testimony, L’Excès-L’usine emerges as a reflection on how politics can become an object of poetry, echoing the criticism of daily life of the 1950s and 1960s.
