Abstract: This study focuses on the rapports between the theatrical œuvre of Romeo Castellucci and ancient Greek tragedy, by way of the two of his performances which refer more or less explicitly to Athenian drama: Orestea and Tragedia Endogonidia. It examines the role played by the syncretism of tragic and comic-satiric elements, which goes back to the mythical origins of the theatrical genre, and examines the reduction of the performance to ritual and its rapports with myth.
