Abstract:Les Illustres Françaises assembles seven couples who, in the Paris of Louis XIV, are subject to the obstacles which familial strategies have put in the way of their happiness. The autodiegetic mode of narration means that competing versions of the same event, felt differently by different people, can be brought together.
