Abstract:Le Grand Meaulnes is meant to embody a French heritage supposed to reconcile the virtues of rural France with the ones of the Republic. Yet, Alain-Fournier – a true defector – builds his work on a rejection of classics and masters, and finds his models in Anglo-Saxon literature.
