Abstract: Treaties for novices of the 12-13th centuries offer a subject of study interesting on the asceticism in connection with the notion of « discipline ». We shall approach this research for the spiritual perfection by means of disciplined it in the educational general direction and of successful teaching, that is the good order that the rule has to make reign in the community by interfering on the way of behaving and the good behavior. After a definition of the discipline, we shall bend over the first treaties for novices then over Hugues de Saint-Victor’s work before finishing our communication on the offspring victorine.
