Abstract: Widely channelled by the revival of the Thomisme, the « mystic wave », which comes out from the end of the 19th century in the Catholicism, questions in a decisive way the primacy given for the 17th century to the asceticism. It leads through a vast theological controversy, which concerns in particular the part of the inborn and that of the experience, to restore the unit of the spiritual life and the initiative of the Holy Spirit.
