Abstract: The study of lexicographical examples from the 17th-18th c. leads to interpret the implicit discourses according to the contexts: to their primary function of linguistic sequences with metalinguistic aims, forged or cited, with or without reference, are added messages that the language analyst is led to decode, from a edition to another, according to the evolution of the status of the textual variants in each of the dictionaries concerned.
