Abstract: By means of a diachronic, descriptive and comparative analysis, this article will discuss the topics most often mentioned by lexicographers in their introductory texts that preface some literary dictionaries published in France between the 17th and the 21st centuries. The objective of this analysis is to highlight the distinguishing features of these introductory texts as well as compare the prefaces of literary dictionaries to those found in monolingual and bilingual dictionaries.
