Abstract: The cyclical vision of time according to which the visible world and creatures were part of an immutable and eternal process was overturned in the 18th century. Newton’s linear conception considers time as a dimension with sequential events. This change in perception can be envisioned at the level of people’s mentalities : the marchioness of Alorna put this new perception of temporality to work towards her strategy of self-affirmation as an author in the literary domain of the time.
