Abstract: Beckett’s correspondance with art historian Georges Duthuit covers crucial years. In this exchange, I seek to grasp the visual suggestions proposed by Beckett, through the reference to paintings he had contemplated or through the reflection devoted to painter-friends. I bring to light the stylistic specificity of a ‘writing of the image’, concentrated on details, to reveal the superimposition of temporalities that escape frozen time.
