Abstract: Beckett had distanced himself from the metalanguage of writing about art. And yet, owing to his relation of confidence with Georges Duthuit, he indeed pracised a conceptual and a lyrical langage, which can be understood as a concession to Duthuit, whereas for Beckett, writing must effect the body. In their final separation, we see that it was necessary for Beckett to assertain the gap separating them.
