Abstract: The article provides an introduction to the overlooked mise en prose Florent et Lyon, which was composed before 1500 and has been transmitted exclusively by printed sources, with the intention of revaluating it and setting the stage for a new critical edition. The article examines the source of the mise en prose, the Old French romance Octavian, as well as its textual transmission and literary structure.
