. Le magnétisme dans la littérature (1780-1914)
  • Author: Mees (Martin)
  • Abstract: The prevalence of an "imaginary" magnetism in Nerval's Aurelia reveals certain implicit philosophical positions that haunt the author's writing. These emerge when we delve into the two forms of magnetic attraction that run through Aurelia: connection and influence. If the first one reveals ontological presuppositions on which the novel is built, the second one deploys a reflexive conception of literature, highlighting its performativity.
