Abstract: This article deals with a series public protests held against proposed reforms of the university system by Sarkozy’s government; our corpus contains a large number of utterances, written on collective banners carried by several people or on individual posters. The article categorises the quotes and shows how they contributed to the building of a collective intellectual/literary ethos.
