Les victimes du 606 Un « poison juif allemand » pour guérir de la syphilis (1910-1918)

  • Abstract: In 1910, the launch of a new treatment for syphilis by the German Paul Ehrlich was celebrated by numerous specialists. In France, however, the nationalist press and certain Academy bigwigs claimed that the drug poisoned patients. This controversy stemmed as much from the essential principles of chemotherapy, founded on recourse to toxic substances, as from representations commonly associated with syphilis itself, conceived of as a poisoning of the organism.
