Abstract: The translation of the Nefs illuminates the nature of representations of vulgar language (German, French) faced with Latin. It recalls the moral reach of all jocoserious literature and also the sagacity that the reading of a text composed in “narragonic” language supposes. Vulgar language benefits from a double rehabilitation at once moral and literary: it becomes satire and exposes its own qualities in a subtle work of writing.
