Abstract: The publication of my critical editions of the secular songbook of Alphonse X le Savant fills a gap in the examination of his poetic work, which was previously only known for its Marian aspect. A critical edition rests on a number of hermeneutic choices. In this study, the difficulties of establishing a corpus, the manuscript tradition, and generic and linguistic differentiation between the cantigas are analysed, as well as the question of the fixation and interpretation of the text.
