  • Abstract: For the Latin writer Cornelius Celsus, there are three categories of persons. The first one is sanus homo, a man in good health, who has no need for a medical attendant. The signs of impending disorders are analysed in the second book of the Medicina, but in the first one, Celsus writes many prescriptions of regimina for an intermediate category, the imbecilli : townspeople and almost all litterati or studiosi. A lot of consilia concerning food, physical exercises, baths, sleep constitutes the foundations of self-control. This paper deals with the influence and evolution of this regimen during the xvith Century, in treatises of philosophical medicine and medicinal cookery as well.
