Abstract: This text suggests that the real myth, which transcends all mythical characters, is the name Duras. She transcends myth, being both ravished and emptied of heroic substance, her everyday, hyperbolic writing being the terrain for it. Duras’s myth is born of the breathing uncertainty of her writing, which doesn’t know what book means. The author embodies an indecisive and universal history, creating a literary myth that transcends all memory.
