Abstract: Many stylistic features of L’Homme précaire et la Littérature make sense in a dense network of meaning. It aims to free itself from the very limits of the text, realising one of the book's greatest strengths: the presence of the work. If this presence is "that which escapes the narrative", it represents what was once called literarity. It is, beyond any dated vocabulary, the most irreducible literary quality of a great work.
