Abstract: The motifs of roads, landscapes and environments are omnipresent in contemporary detective fiction, such as L’Archer bassari by Modibo S Keita and L’Empreinte du renard by Moussa Konaté. They evoke movements and transform fiction into a hermeneutic quest : the search for truth is then presented as a journey, a movement of body and soul that the detective undertakes on dangerous, chaotic roads and landscapes devastated by drought.
