Abstract: Studying the illustrated work Envoûtement de Paris, in which Francis Carco’s text provides the matrix for the photographs of René-Jacques, our aim is to examine the fertile role of the writer in the elaboration of a collective Parisian imaginary alongside Mac Orlan and Dorgelès. The commissioned texts he wrote between 1930 and 1950 are part of a creative output that consolidates an image reinforced by the photographs that accompany them.
