Abstract: In a contemporary literature saturated with tales of walking, where the slowness of movement is supposed to guarantee the intensity of the experience far from any idea of performance, cycle-travel narratives set their own brisk pace. With juvenile frenzy and a taste for challenge, not without self-irony, , Bicyclettres by J.-A. Danès (2018) and Sur la route du Danube by E. Ruben (2019) rehabilitate speed to renew the approach to landscapes and revitalize travel writing.
