Abstract: After having briefly evoked the beginnings of Tim Burton’s career with Disney and the context in which the film was made, this article analyses Christmas’ various modes of representation seen through the medium of the hero Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloweenland. It then examines Jack’s journey, between hubris, nemesis and redemption, before giving an account of the film’s critical reception in France.
