. Le Voyage entre science, art et littérature
  • Author: Martin (Amandine)
  • Abstract: This article focuses on the Reverend Walter Weston's dualistic perception of Japanese culture. The study is based on the records and photographs of his stay in Japan between 1891 and 1894. Subsequently, he becomes a specialist in the « Japanese Alps » through his scientific involvement in learned societies. But the mountains remain for him a spiritual romantic environment, especially in Japan, country still rooted in ancestral traditions.
