Abstract: The correspondences between, on one side, André Gide and Romain Rolland, confirmed writers, and, in the other side, Jean Malaquais and Panaït Istrati, Polish and Romanian proletarians, can surprise us : between literary advice, linguistic corrections and political disputes, these correspondences offer a unique vision on the literary creation of the interwar period and a vivid testimony of the great historical moments of this period, such as the relation to the USSR or the World War II.
