Abstract: The texts in Robinson do not amount to a fully-formed story, but are a succession of variations on a theme that allow Valéry to explore the state of existential solitude. Rather than seeking to evoke a diegetic reality, the writing is characterised by the apparently arbitrary juxtaposition of fragments, a refusal of continuity, and a systematic challenge to all aspects of traditional narrative.
