Abstract: Claude Simon said that his work was mainly “à base de vécu”. The different ages of life (his own, but also that of more or less fictitious characters) therefore occupy an important place in their biological, psychological and sociological dimensions. However, it is not for the writer to make his life (or that of his characters) a chronological narrative, but to work through writing on a few privileged moments that he keeps repeating and varying.
