  • Abstract: Taking its inspiration from the claim of La Part maudite that in its bizarre myths and cruel rites humanity seeks lost intimacy, this essay examines the significance of intimacy according to the Bataillian intertexts of the film, Heartbeat detector (2007). Scattered throughout an already anachronistic montage shifting between a modern multinational enterprise and images of the Shoah, references to Bataille demonstrate their ongoing power through interruptions.
