Abstract: Garibaldi’s heritage has marked the history and culture of Italian emigration. This article recalls the role of reference to Garibaldi in antifascism at a time when the latter was stabilising and organising itself, from 1927 onwards. It then studies the turning point surrounding Sante Garibaldi and organised antifascism, which corresponds to the period of the popular fronts, accompanied by a coming together of Garibaldians.
