Abstract: This article discusses the possibility of treating Madame du Châtelet’s manuscript La Fable des abeilles (1735–1738) as a clandestine philosophical manuscript. Although this work does not meet the historiographical criteria traditionally associated with this literature, its content (in particular its preface) and the modalities of its circulation suggest how this text could be considered an example of philosophical clandestinity expressed in a feminine form.
