Abstract: This article examines the numerous works first published in the seventeenth century that aimed to provide a history of atheism since its origins: not only do we discover the different conceptions of disbelief that existed, but also that several works belonging to the corpus of clandestine philosophical literature constitute the authors’ intellectual background.
