Abstract: In his recent book, Epicureans and Atheists in France, 1650-1729, Alan Charles Kors denies that the short manuscript titled Origine des êtres et des espèces is an atheist text that can be attributed to the Comte de Boulainvilliers as the editors of Philosophes sans Dieu (Gianluca Mori and Alain Mothu 2005) would have it. Gianluca Mori registers his surprise. He returns to the arguments he has used since 1994 and that render the doubts expressed by Alan Kors invalid.
