Abstract: This article examines the account of Iustus Kahl, a Calvinist who converted to Catholicism, of the circulation of a treatise on three impostors in the final years of the sixteenth century. While this account contributes little to the debates on the reality of that treatise, it shows how the argument could be used in the context of religious controversies after the Reformation.
