Abstract: During the decade 1520-1530, the evangelical ideas spread within the towns of the Duchy of Savoy. The bishop of Geneva was especially concerned with his career and political matters. By contrast, the duke of Savoy adopted a more active policy, combining counter-preaching and a project of general reformation of the entire society. This policy was carried out by the General Estates and exhibited many points of contacts with the policies of the diocesan synods.
