La démonstration présomptive a priori de l’existence de Dieu Certitude morale et religion naturelle chez Leibniz

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work: La Certitude morale de Descartes à Hume
  • Author: Lærke (Mogens)
  • Abstract: This article shows how Leibniz, from the late 1670s onward, offers an argument a priori for God’s existence which procures only moral certitude. The argument rests on a presumption of possible existence comparable to the presumption of possible culpability which, in a criminal enquiry, prevents the investigator from eliminating any suspect prior to the establishment of an alibi.
