Abstract: Using the narrative motif of poison and poisoning in the “chivalric” literature of the langue d’oïl between 1100 and 1400, this study seeks to confront historical and literary approaches. More generally, it considers the place and uniformity of the theme of criminal poisoning in epic poems and “chansons de geste”.
