  • Abstract: Through the invention of the character of Joséphès, and above all through his collusion with Joseph d’Arimathie and the historian Flavius Josèphe, the author of the Estoire del Sainte Graal gives a new definition to the estoire as a mode of writing and reading profoundly linked to the Letter of the Passion of Christ. In an era in which historian meets exegete, the Estoire emerges as the product of an exegetic practice which turns the past into the dynamic location of the living morality of the Incarnation.
